What did your project set out to do? What outcomes did you identify for your
project? |
The artist will use watercolor as a medium with which to guide the students in exploring the school-wide theme, Imagination. Basic water color techniques will be introduced and practiced by the students.
Students, grades K-6, will create a watercolor painting demonstrating their use of imagination within the constraints of appropriate watercolor technique. These painting will be publically exhibited at the Moscow Charter School Winter Arts Showcase. |
| 2. What
did the project accomplish? Who was served and how did they benefit?
|
The residency created a school-wide focus on watercolor painting as a form of expressing one’s imagination.
All grade levels received instruction from Helen Grainger Wilson. Additionally, twenty eight parents and children participated in an after school workshop, and ten staff members participated in a staff in-service.
The public, including all school children, their parents and families, was invited to the Moscow Charter School Winter Arts Showcase the evening of February 1, 2007. The focal point of the evening was the students’ watercolor exhibit. |
| 3. How
do you know that your project accomplished these things? What evaluation
methods did you use?
|
The project was judged a success based on the high level of participation, the acquisition of knowledge and skills, and quality of the exhibit. |
4. How
will you share the results of your program with others?
(These might be other school personnel, parents, press/media, PTO/PTA,
local or state policy makers, etc.) |
|
State legislators, Tom Trail and Shirley Ringo, visited the school and viewed the exhibit.
The results of the project were shared with the Moscow School District in the annual Moscow Charter School Accountability Report.
